LOSING SLEEP
Through forty days and far too many nights
And hours of wasted breath
The last leaf falls into my hands
And I with it
And four high walls keep me company
And keep the world away from me
I count my friends and my enemies
And I’m here, I’m all here
But I don’t care about loosing sleep
What’s good for you might be good for me
Tonight I’ll believe anything you say
And you can paint my face
Carve a smile around my eyes
In time I’ll get used to it
Now I don’t know if it’s you or me
Or if it matters now
Wrong and right become novelties
The truth is always grey
So nothing’s said and nothing’s done
And everyone loves everyone
We laugh until we puke and even that is fun
But I don’t care about losing sleep
What’s good for you night be good for me
Tonight I’ll believe anything you say
And you can paint my face
Carve a smile around my eyes
In time I’ll get used to living in slow motion
Drowning in this ocean I recall the sky
And everything it gave me, the one thing that could save me
The warmth I once knew…forgotten
And coming up for air was the furthest thing from my mind
Why even try
I’ve broke every promise and sold out every dream
That ever meant anything to me
I’m running out of words and they’re falling short on meaning
But no one seems to notice
Cause no one was ever even listening
Was I ever even talking
I can’t remember
It all seems so trivial now
Anyway
